FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I'm already voting for a state facilities bond - why are they getting double money?
Burbank USD will not receive any of the state facilities bond UNLESS Measure ABC is passed. When Measure ABC passes, as long as Prop 2 passes, BUSD will be eligible for ~$40M in matching funds, helping Burbank taxpayers’ dollars go further.
What can bonds not be used for?

NO TEACHER OR ADMINISTRATOR SALARIES

Proceeds from the sale of bonds authorized by this measure shall be used only for the purposes specified in Article XIII A, Section 1(b)(3), those being for the construction, reconstruction, rehabilitation, or replacement of school facilities, including the furnishingand equipping of school facilities, and the acquisition or lease of school facilities, and not for any other purpose, including teacher and administrator salaries and other school

operating expenses.

Burbank Schools are great!

We who live here in Burbank know that our public schools rank among the best in all of California! We’re all proud of the quality education and academic opportunities offered to our students.

But, they're in urgent need of repairs!

But did you know that our schools are in desperate need of serious repair? While we have done the best job that we can to maintain our schools, the average age of a school in BUSD is over 60 years old with multiple schools having been built over 100 years ago. Because of this, our classrooms, roofs, plumbing systems, electrical systems, HVAC systems and grounds are in serious need of repair and modernization.

Ol' Bucky.png

OUR STUDENTS' FUTURE STARTS WITH GOOD SCHOOLS.

So our teachers and parents got together with Burbank School Board Members to place Measure ABC on the November 5th General Election Ballot. Measure ABC is a Bond, and it will provide the funding necessary for the critical repairs and modernization we need.

In addition to fixing the critical physical issues with our facilities, Measure ABC will upgrade and improve the learning environment of our students, and maintain the high quality of education Burbank has come to expect. And every dollar earned from this bond will go directly to Burbank Schools, not back up to Sacramento. And that’s something we can all support.
